Seattle Tourists 2012

A sunny, warm last day of September in the Emerald City
  • 9:59 AM and brilliant sun.
  • Pike Place Market begins to fill up.
  • Mums or dahlias?
  • "PLEASE DON'T SQUEEZE ME HARD" (A photo of what I should eat, but don't.)
  • Plenty of seafood at the market. Very interesting varieties; plenty of interesting odors too.
  • The market has multiple floors, but it's rather creepy down below.
  • The Donut Robot never stops. (A Pike Place Market delicacy.)
  • Lilies. (My favorite image of the day.)
  • Peppers hung as decoration -- or you can eat them too.
  • Damn right it is...
  • A huge assortment of cut flowers, and quite reasonably priced.
  • Space Needle in its 50th anniversary colors.
  • Seattle now has it's own Great Wheel (tourist trap) right on the waterfront.
  • Nothing says "come to this waterfront retaurant" like a wooden sea captain out front...
  • Pier 57 Carousel detail.
  • The Great Wheel's hub.
  • You can tell it's a tough wooden sea captain by the nail whiskers.
  • Port of Seattle is quiet on this Sunday...
  • Waterfront artist's necklace creations. (Yvonne now owns one.)
  • Pendants.
  • Fountain at the border of the waterfront sculpture garden.
  • Dusty Ferrari on display for the Italian Festival.
  • Chihuly glass sculpture garden... from outside the fence.
  • "Who's the clown who designed these %#*@& shoes!"
  • One of the Pacific Science Center arches (it could use a wash).
  • A perfect day to be at the Needle (but I'm too cheap to go to the top).
  • Art deco style elevator cars -- 50 years old in 2012.
  • Chihuly glass sculpture.
  • A wide angle lens privides a bit of perspective distortion.
  • "Hammering Man" outside SAM ( Seattle Art Museum) doing his thing.
